Elon Musk Grok Imagine Odyssey moved from promise to footage when Grok released seven minutes of its AI-generated adaptation and labeled it "Episode 1 of our Odyssey series." The clip gives viewers the first public look at a project Musk had framed as a full-length, "historically accurate" movie.
Grok Episode 1 and Dev Walker
Grok said the release was made in collaboration with Wonder Studios and Dev Walker. That means the clip is not just a concept post. It is a finished sample that can be judged on its own pacing, image quality, and coherence rather than on Musk’s earlier pitch.
The timing matters because Musk had made that promise three months earlier. The new release turns the debate from what Grok said it would build into what it can already put on screen.
Anthony Ha on the clip
Anthony Ha, TechCrunch weekend editor, wrote that he was "listlessly checking how much time I had left before the Grok version was even halfway through." He also said, "If it was a video game cutscene, I would have hit the “skip” button."
His reaction points to the sharpest gap between the promise and the result. Musk had criticized Christopher Nolan’s version of The Odyssey, yet the public Grok clip was described as lacking artistry, inspiration, and human interest.
The footage also appears to use a British accent for the narrator. It has no one speaking in ancient Greek.
What viewers can judge now
Viewers can now assess Grok’s output as a seven-minute moving-image test, not a future announcement. The release is short enough to show style, rhythm, and voice choices, and long enough to reveal whether the material can sustain attention.
What remains open is whether Grok will keep extending the series into the full movie Musk described. The company has released Episode 1, and the rest of the promised adaptation has not yet appeared.
