Victoria Sugden returned to Emmerdale after eight months away, in a brief cameo that put her back in the middle of Robert’s plans for the reinvented Hide. The scene aired in today’s episode, via an early ITVX release, and kept the focus on whether she is ready to come back from Portugal.
Robert's Hide plan
Robert told Aaron Dingle and Sarah Sugden that he wanted to get in touch with Victoria and bring her back to the village. He said she had experience as a chef and would be a good fit for the reinvented Hide, which he acquired last month after taking over the former Hide Bistro.
That gives the return a practical purpose, not just a nostalgic one. Robert has renamed the property and business Emmerdale Farm, and the invitation to Victoria is tied directly to how he wants the place to function next.
Portugal and Yorkshire
Victoria is now settled in Portugal, where she left for a new life earlier this year after being troubled by the aftermath of killing her brother John, whose death was ruled as suicide. Joe Tate had footage of the death and used it to blackmail Robert into planting evidence at Butler’s Farm, a move that would have framed Moira Dingle for modern slavery and double murder.
Joe later reached a compromise that allowed Victoria to sell her half of the farm and leave with enough money to start afresh with Harry. That background explains why the brief call mattered: this was not a casual check-in, but an attempt to reopen a life she had already walked away from.
The video call response
Robert dialled through to Portugal for a brief video call, and Victoria answered with a careful no. She said “it sounded exciting,” but also said she was now settled on the other side of Europe and “she couldn’t see herself living in Yorkshire again.”
When Aaron chipped in, Victoria repeated that she did not want to return. The cameo closes the door on any easy reunion for now, even if Robert still has a business case for bringing her into his plans at Hide.
