Michael Adams Says more than 20 Voting Locations Near Me Open in Jefferson County

Voting locations near me opened Thursday morning in Kentucky, and Jefferson County voters now have more than 20 places to cast a ballot. Early voting runs through Oct. 31 before Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

At the Kentucky Exposition Center, voters can use either a walk-in line or a new drive-thru option. The drive-thru site is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Oct. 29-31, then from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Election Day.

Michael Adams and Jefferson County

Michael Adams said about a quarter of voters are taking advantage of early voting. For Jefferson County voters, the practical step is simple: bring an ID issued by the state that includes a name and photograph, such as a driver's license or student ID, and choose any of the open sites rather than waiting for Election Day.

David Yates urged voters to review a sample ballot before they go. That matters in a race that includes federal, state and local contests, along with a constitutional amendment on limiting when the governor can issue pardons from 60 days before an election through Inauguration Day.

Department of Justice and polling places

The U.S. Department of Justice is calling for election monitors in Jefferson and Fayette counties on Nov. 3. Kentucky law prohibits election monitors from being inside polling places, and representatives from the clerk's office said only election officials and sheriff's deputies, when necessary, may speak with voters inside a polling location.

Adams addressed that concern directly, saying, "We've seen no evidence of any sort of election interference from the federal government" while discussing election monitors and polling security. He also said, "I was assured months ago that ICE would not be coming and making this Minneapolis, and I see no evidence that they intend to do that whatsoever."

For voters trying to find the closest option, the county's setup still leaves one unanswered piece: which specific site is nearest to each address. The useful part is that Jefferson County now has more than 20 places to choose from, plus a drive-thru option at the Kentucky Exposition Center, so voters can pick the location that fits their schedule and access needs before Oct. 31.
