Danielle Parton Says Stage Zero Cancer in Rebecca Seaver Update

Danielle Parton said this week that she is dealing with a cancer battle, and she called it stage zero in an interview with Extra. Rebecca Seaver, the disclosure landed just after Dolly Parton’s Estate named her official Brand Ambassador.

“I am going through a little bit of a cancer battle myself right now. I’m okay, stage zero, caught it early, getting it done. But she took it really heavy, and that’s how I figured out. I didn’t know, like anybody else, what she was dealing with. I knew she was sick,” Danielle said.

Dolly Parton’s Estate move

The Estate announced this past week that Danielle is its official Brand Ambassador, a role built around the family name she shares through Bobby. That makes her public health update harder to separate from the new title: the same week the Estate elevated her, she put her own diagnosis on the record. The timing gives the appointment an added family weight, even without any change to the role itself.

Danielle said Dolly took the news “really heavy,” and she also said she figured out Dolly was most likely dealing with cancer after their conversation around August 6th. “She was just devastated that I was going through it,” Danielle said, adding, “look, you gotta get it together, it ain’t that deep.”

Stage zero and early catch

Stage zero points to a diagnosis caught at the earliest end of the scale, before a cancer has had the chance to spread. Danielle said she is still moving through it and emphasized that it was caught early, which is the detail that changes the tone of the story from crisis to management.

Danielle also described the reaction around Dolly’s passing as intense, saying, “I’m still a little overwhelmed. I’ve always known that Dolly was a huge star, but it’s fascinating to me to see the outpouring of love since she’s passed.” That is the other part of the story that has now become public: the family was absorbing grief, a new role, and a cancer disclosure at the same time.

What Danielle said next

For now, Danielle has only put the diagnosis itself into the open. She did not spell out the type of cancer, and the interview leaves the next medical step off the record, so the practical takeaway is simple: she says it was caught early, she is handling it, and the family’s most recent public announcement now sits beside that news.
