Tesco Christmas has returned to a big storytelling commercial, with Roisin Conaty and Anna Maxwell Martin playing former friends brought back together by a delivery on a cold December night. The film puts female friendship at the centre of Tesco’s seasonal push, using a simple reunion to sell Christmas shopping, festive food and drink, and delivery service messaging.

Roisin Conaty said, "I love that this story centres on female friendship." She added, "It starts in a way many people can relate to, all stress and mayhem, but shows how one small act of kindness can bring people back together after years apart."

"It’s lovely to show Polly and Lizzie reuniting and celebrating kindness and grace," she said. "Also, the silliness we can only feel with old friends alongside the magic of Christmas."

Anna Maxwell Martin said, "I’m really pleased to be part of a production that acknowledges that whilst we can all strive for our ‘perfect’ Christmas, it is in fact human connection that truly helps to make Christmas magic."

Tesco and BBH

Tesco has gone back to a larger Christmas story after trying smaller, grittier vignettes last year. That shift matters because the brand is now leaning on a single, more recognisable narrative rather than a series of short scenes, with a delivery driver going hundreds of miles out of her way to make sure the shopping reaches a customer.

Suzanne Quinn said, "This Christmas, Tesco is showing up with plenty of extra little helps to deliver customers their very best Christmas." She added, "Whether that’s cracking deals on the products they love, delicious, exclusive food and drink, or festive experiences that bring families together, we’re focused on helping customers make Christmas happen."

"Because this Christmas, Every Little Helps," she said. Felipe Serradourada Guimarães added, "Tesco is such an icon and this story could only have been told by them." He said, "We’re so proud to work on a brand that is able to capture the spirit of Christmas for people across the country."

This Christmas

The ad’s strength is the cast and the chemistry, but its premise is simpler than its ambition. Tesco and BBH are trying to land a familiar holiday feeling through a delivery story, even as the campaign rests on a friendship reunion rather than a sharper product-led message.

For customers, the practical signal sits in the promises around deals, exclusive food and drink, and festive experiences. The campaign is built to make Tesco feel useful in the run-up to Christmas, while leaving the details of the broader rollout to the shopping aisle and the delivery slot rather than to the film itself.
