Deep Purple 2026 tour postponed after Ian Gillan had a medical problem in Leipzig that required urgent hospital attention. The band has moved the rest of its European and U.K. 2026 run, and all tickets will carry over to the rescheduled dates.
Leipzig Changed the Route
Gillan said he had hoped to hang on until the end of the tour, but he also said there were very serious risks in doing that. He turned 81 over the summer, and that age sits in the middle of the decision here: the band did not wait for the situation to worsen before pulling the remaining dates.
The postponed run covers over a dozen more concerts in Germany, the Netherlands, France and the U.K. That is the part of the schedule that now moves off the calendar until further notice, with ticket holders left on the same purchase and simply waiting for the new dates to land.
Gillan's Statement to Fans
“Dear friends, Thank you for all the good wishes and support over the last few days...it means the world” Gillan said in a statement shared via the band’s social media. He added that the decision came after advice from his medical team and management, and he closed by saying, “I'm very sorry about any inconvenience this may cause, but it's in the best interest all round. Thank you for your understanding.”
The quote matters because it shows this was not a routine scheduling shuffle. Gillan wanted to continue, but the advice he received pushed the band in the other direction, and that is the real business consequence for a touring act: once the singer's health becomes the limiting factor, every remaining date becomes a risk calculation rather than a simple routing exercise.
Brazil to Mexico Remain Open
Deep Purple also has dates scheduled for December of this year in Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Mexico, but the status of those shows has not yet been laid out. For now, the clean read is simple: the European and U.K. stretch is off until further notice, the German dates are included in that freeze, and the Latin American leg is still sitting in the queue.
