Mckenna Grace draws a line on nudity before The Hunger Games

McKenna Grace says she does not do nudity or very hypersexual things in acting roles. The 20-year-old made the remark while promoting The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, where she will play Maysilee Donner. The boundary lands as she heads toward a major studio release and a role inside a franchise she has followed for years.

Maysilee Donner and Nov. 20

Nov. 20 is the date The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping premieres in theaters, and Grace will be part of that rollout as Maysilee Donner, a fellow District 12 tribute tied to the Second Quarter Quell. She described the role in August as “very put together and she's this little darling, with her little ribbons and her bows and her purple dress,” then added, “But she's just so angry and biting. She's like [Catching Fire and Mockingjay's] Johanna Mason with her anger. Except with a little bit more lace and ribbons.”

Mckenna Grace channels Katniss in Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping tribute tracks how closely her public image is now tied to this franchise. That matters because the more visible the role gets, the more her stated limits on future material may shape what she is asked to consider next.

Cosmopolitan interview line

In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Grace drew the line in plain language: “At this point, I definitely don't do nudity or very hypersexual things.” She added, “I respect anybody who can, but it's terrifying to me. I don't know if that'll ever change. It's not like I only do wholesome things—my character literally gets gutted by Ghostface in Scream—but my dream is to try and be a Disney princess someday.”

That last sentence does the work here. Grace is not presenting herself as someone who only plays safe material; she is drawing a narrower boundary around sexual content while pointing to Scream as proof she will still take on violent or intense roles. The result is a cleaner casting signal for producers, who now know where her line sits before any role discussion gets too far.

Sets, edits, ownership

Grace said her view grew out of how she was handled as a child actor. On set, she said she was expected to act like an adult until she was on camera, then treated like a kid until everybody got mad at her for acting like a kid. As she got older, she said she has enjoyed being an adult and having more ownership over characters, including sitting down with producers and pitching her ideas.

Her relationship with The Hunger Games universe also runs deeper than the current role. As a teen, she made Team Peeta fan edits, and she said she knew Josh Hutcherson for a year and a half before he brought them up. “Why did it have to get back to Josh [Hutcherson] is my thing,” she said, then added, “I played it so cool for a year and a half of knowing him, and he never brought it up. But everyone keeps reminding him. Just let it die; let a girl have some dignity. I do regret it in a way, but I am also just like, 'I am a real fan, a fangirl. I'm a CapCut warrior.'”

Mckenna Grace Wears Vera Wang Lace and Chopard in Joseph Zada Tour fits the same pattern: she is building a public identity around the franchise while keeping some guardrails on the kind of work she will accept. Whether she ever changes that nudity boundary is still the open question, but for now the line is set, and the next test is how many roles fit inside it after Nov. 20.
