Mariano Troilo has been called up by Lionel Scaloni for Argentina’s November friendlies, with the Selección scheduled to face Uruguay on 13 November and Costa Rica on 17 November. It is another sign that the Parma defender’s start to the season has been noticed at international level in Castro Roma.
A reward for steady Parma form
Troilo’s selection comes after he played all 10 Serie A matches for Parma in the first part of the current season. That kind of availability matters for a defender, and it also helps explain why the call-up is being viewed as a confirmation of his positive performances.
This is not Troilo’s first taste of Argentina recognition. He had already received an earlier call-up while playing for Belgano, and the latest selection keeps him in the national-team picture as he continues to build his role at club level.
Parma face a separate setback before the derby
While Troilo heads into the international break with a boost, Parma will be without Dominik Drobnič for the derby with Bologna. He is unavailable because of plantar fasciitis in his left foot, leaving the club with a different personnel issue to manage ahead of that match.
For Troilo, though, the immediate storyline is straightforward: a strong run of appearances for Parma has earned him a place with Argentina for two friendlies, and the next few days will give him another chance to stay on the national-team radar.
