Yolanda Prince challenge

Moran faced Yolanda Prince, who is an SFA and UTA grad and has worked in university projects as a career. His showing came against a Democrat in a district where that party has not held the seat since Max Sandlin left office in 2005 after being defeated by Louie Gohmert.

Texas' 1st Congressional District

Texas' 1st Congressional District covers Bowie, Cass, Cherokee, Gregg, Harrison, Marion, Nacogdoches, Panola, Rusk, Sabine, San Augustine, Shelby and Smith counties. About 776,000 people live in the district, so the race reaches a large East Texas electorate spread across multiple counties.

Third term for Moran

The projection gives Moran a third term in a district that has stayed Republican through several election cycles. The projection reported the vote share at 9 p.m., but how large Moran's final margin of victory was after that point was not stated.
