Bonfire Night Manchester celebrations are set against a forecast for temperatures to dip into single digits across the UK, with most places staying largely dry but cloudy. Fireworks displays and bonfires should still go ahead in many areas, but the evening will feel colder than the day.
High pressure remains in charge and is keeping significant rain-bearing systems away. That means many places will stay dry for most of the evening, although a few patches of drizzle are possible on Bonfire Night and some showers will continue in south-west England, northern England, Northern Ireland and eastern Scotland.
UK temperatures and cloud
The forecast puts Bonfire Night temperatures around the seasonal average, but evening readings are expected to fall into single digits for many places after a rather chilly day. Rural areas could be colder than towns and cities, and smoke from bonfires and fireworks may add to a murky picture in some locations.
One named comparison stands out: on 5 November 2025, some areas across the southern half of the UK did not fall below 14C. That made it the warmest Bonfire Night on record for a number of weather stations including Southampton, Teddington, Portland, Bude and Anglesey. This year’s setup is the opposite, with cooler air settling in as the celebrations begin.
Fog and frost risk
Mist and fog could form over some hills and potentially at lower levels if cloud breaks. A touch of frost will be possible in sheltered areas in the northern half of the UK where skies remain clear, although most places are likely to avoid frost. Later in the night, some fog patches could form, especially in sheltered northern and western parts.
The patchy fog risk becomes more important into the weekend, when residual Bonfire Night celebrations and the Hindu Festival of Diwali on 8 November may also be affected. The forecast through the weekend is generally dry and chilly, with the area of high pressure gradually moving eastwards but remaining dominant.
Friday Saturday Sunday plans
Many communities across the UK will continue with firework displays on Friday and Saturday and the Hindu festival of light on Sunday. The weather should not cause any issues for those celebrations, but people heading out for Bonfire Night Manchester should expect a colder, dimmer evening than a mild autumn night and plan for fog-prone, sheltered spots.
