Patrick Lynch MT Lebanon is at the center of a police investigation after Patrick Lynch, Caroline Lynch and James Lynch were found Tuesday in the street near a five-story parking garage in Mt. Lebanon. The Allegheny County Police Department is investigating the deaths as a murder-suicide.
Caroline was 6 years old and James was 8. The family friend’s GoFundMe had raised $209,672 toward its $250,000 goal by Friday, with the money intended to help cover burial costs for the children and Patrick Lynch.

Anna DeMase Lynch wrote on Facebook that Patrick Lynch had been “a wonderful dad” even as she said he “made the irreversible decision to kill our two children and himself this evening.” In the same post, she said he had been struggling with depression after losing his job in August.
She also wrote, “I suggested he go to a therapist, which he agreed to go to and had an appointment booked for 11/4. One day too late.” She added, “Please check in on your loved ones. I never thought this is how our story would end.”

The Williams Syndrome Association said, “We know this is painful news to share with our community,” and extended condolences to Anna Lynch and everyone affected by the event. In 2024, Anna Lynch spoke in a Facebook fundraiser about her daughter’s diagnosis with Williams syndrome, giving the family a public record before the deaths that now frames the outpouring of support.
The fundraising effort has become the clearest immediate next step for the family’s supporters, with the GoFundMe goal still above the amount raised as of Friday. Police continue their investigation into the deaths near the garage, and the family’s own words point to the unanswered question left behind by the case: what led Patrick Lynch to the alleged murder-suicide.
