Barcelona Vs Madrid Cff: Barça Femenino face a key Liga F test before Arsenal

Barça Femenino will host Madrid CFF on Sunday 8 November at the Estadi Johan Cruyff, and the timing makes the match more important than a standard Liga F fixture. Madrid CFF arrive in third place and have been one of the most in-form teams in the league, so this is a demanding test just ahead of a major Champions League appointment.

That European appointment comes quickly. On Thursday 12 November, Barça Femenino will receive Arsenal at the Spotify Camp Nou, which puts the Madrid CFF match squarely in the middle of a busy and significant week for Pere Romeu's squad.

Recovery updates ahead of Arsenal

Romeu is also managing several players in recovery as the European game approaches. Kika Nazareth, Vicky López and Irene Paredes are all working their way back, with the coach saying they are doing individual work at the moment.

For Vicky López, the timeline has already stretched beyond the original estimate. FC Barcelona issued a medical report on 23 September saying she had a myofibrillar injury in the right rectus femoris and would be out for two weeks. Romeu said she is still doing individualized work, along with Kika and Irene, and that he believes Vicky and Irene may be able to rejoin the team as soon as possible, although he does not yet know the exact timings.

Irene Paredes is expected to complete the three weeks of absence estimated for her injury on Wednesday 11 November. That means her situation will remain one to watch right up to the Arsenal match, which adds another layer to the squad decisions surrounding Sunday’s game against Madrid CFF.

For Barça Femenino, the equation is clear: Madrid CFF offer a strong immediate challenge, but the broader priority is arriving at the Champions League match in the best possible shape. Sunday’s result and the minutes distributed in that game could both matter when Arsenal come to Barcelona four days later.
