Peacock and Apple TV Launch Discounted Bundle with Shared Shows

Apple and NBCUniversal are launching a new streaming bundle aimed at enhancing subscription growth for both platforms. The “Apple TV and Peacock Bundle” will officially debut on October 20, just in time for the NBA season opener on NBC and Peacock.
Bundle Details
The new streaming bundle offers competitive pricing options:
- Apple TV with Peacock Premium: $14.99 per month
- Apple TV with Peacock Premium Plus: $19.99 per month
This pricing provides a discount of over 30% compared to individual subscription rates, which are:
- Apple TV: $12.99 per month
- Peacock Premium: $10.99 per month
- Peacock Premium Plus: $16.99 per month
Additionally, Apple One subscribers can access Peacock Premium Plus for 35% off, marking a significant addition to Apple’s service offerings.
Curated Shared Programming
Each platform will present a selection of shows from the other service. Apple TV users can enjoy up to three episodes of the following titles:
- Bel-Air
- Twisted Metal
- Happy’s Place
Similarly, Peacock users can experience up to three episodes from:
- Palm Royale
- Stick
- Slow Horses
Complementary Content and Strategic Goals
The partnership emphasizes a blend of complementary content. Peacock focuses on live sports and events, offering some original programming, while Apple TV specializes in curated premium content similar to HBO’s model.
Matt Strauss, Chairman of NBCUniversal Media Group, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating it redefines the customer journey in streaming bundles. Oliver Schusser, VP at Apple, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the seamless viewer experience and diverse programming.
Shifting Partnership Dynamics
Historically, both companies have hesitated to engage in bundle or partnership deals since launching their services. However, recent developments signal a change in strategy:
- Peacock recently partnered with Walmart for their Walmart+ subscribers.
- Agreements with Amazon and Google have expanded Peacock’s distribution.
- Apple is rebranding Apple TV+ to Apple TV, enhancing its service portfolio.
This new bundle illustrates a broader trend of streaming services exploring partnership opportunities to attract new audiences and increase market reach.
