In February 2024, Paul began to exhibit troubling symptoms, including weight loss and jaundice. These visible issues prompted adjustments in camera settings among his colleagues. During a KUTV report, he spoke candidly about his health. He noted that symptoms like dark urine and nausea often indicate advanced cancer, specifically at Stage 4.
At the time of his diagnosis, he was classified as Stage 2, which, while less severe than Stage 4, still posed significant challenges. “It’s still scary as hell,” he expressed, revealing the emotional toll of his condition.

Throughout his treatment, which included chemotherapy and an invasive surgery to remove a tumor, Paul remained optimistic.
