Bowen Yang Absent from October 18 ‘Saturday Night Live’ Episode

Bowen Yang will not be appearing in the taping of “Saturday Night Live” (SNL) on October 18. His absence is a prearranged decision to accept the prestigious Academy Museum’s Vantage Award, which recognizes emerging artists reshaping narratives in the entertainment industry.
Despite missing the live show, Yang contributed to the writing of the episode and will feature in a pre-taped sketch. Yang announced his temporary departure through his Instagram stories, expressing excitement about the night. He wrote, “Missing the show tonight but it will be sooooo fun,” praising host and musical guest Sabrina Carpenter.
Sabrina Carpenter Takes the Stage
Carpenter, known for her dynamic performances, will make her debut as the host of SNL. Previously, she showcased her talent as a musical guest during the Season 49 finale. While she has participated in significant SNL events, including the “SNL 50: The Anniversary Special,” this hosting opportunity marks a notable milestone in her career.
