Surviving Mormonism reveals the complex and often hidden history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Heather Gay, known for her role on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City and her book Bad Mormon, aims to shed light on the darker aspects of the Mormon community.

In the first episode, Heather meets David Matheson, a former Mormon and advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, whose past involved promoting harmful practices influenced by church teachings. This session aims to expose the critical realities behind conversion therapy.

As the series progresses, Heather engages in a powerful dialogue with Ben, a survivor of abuse whose story profoundly impacts her. In the concluding episode, viewers will witness the harrowing accounts of sisters Jennie and Lizzy, who faced ongoing abuse and systemic negligence from church leaders.

Surviving Mormonism is produced by the Intellectual Property Corporation, a division of Sony Pictures Television. Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman serve as executive producers, alongside Erin Gamble, who also acts as showrunner. Heather Gay holds an executive producer title as well.
