James Reckitt Avenue Set for Closure Due to Essential Hull Repairs

James Reckitt Avenue in Hull is set to undergo essential repairs, resulting in a temporary road closure. The local authority has announced this initiative to ensure both public and worker safety during the construction.

Closure Details and Traffic Management

The road closure will take place in two phases. The first phase occurs from October 27 to October 29. During this time, access between Gillshill Road and James Reckitt Avenue via the roundabout will be restricted. Temporary traffic signals will be in place to manage the flow of vehicles.

Motorists are advised to use diversion routes, such as Ings Road and Lambwath Road, to access Sutton Road, Cavendish Road, and the northern part of Gillshill Road.

Final Resurfacing Phase

From October 29 to October 31, the roundabout will be completely closed for final resurfacing work. The same diversion routes will apply.

  • Phase One: October 27-29 – Restricted access with temporary signals.
  • Phase Two: October 29-31 – Full roundabout closure for resurfacing.
  • Diversion Routes: Ings Road and Lambwath Road.

Impact on Residents and Services

Access for local residents and businesses will remain open throughout the closure. Additionally, pedestrian access will not be affected, ensuring safety for foot traffic.

Bin collections are scheduled to continue as normal. Emergency vehicles will have access at all times, ensuring continuous safety and assistance for residents.

However, bus services will face disruptions, as the stop near the roundabout won’t be accessible during the closure.

Official Statement

Councillor Mark Ieronimo, the cabinet portfolio holder for transport and infrastructure, commented on the repairs. He stated, “These essential works on James Reckitt Avenue will significantly enhance the condition of the road for all users.”

He expressed gratitude to residents and motorists for their patience during this period. The work is intentionally scheduled during the October half-term to minimize disruption when traffic is lighter.
