Northeast Monsoon Brings Wet, Cool Weather to North Taiwan, Temps Drop to 20°C
The Northeast Monsoon is currently affecting North Taiwan, leading to a spell of wet and cool weather. Temperatures are set to drop, with lows around 20°C in the northern regions. This shift toward a lower temperature is expected to persist through the week.
Upcoming Weather Forecast
According to the Central Weather Bureau, the impact of the Northeast Monsoon will intensify with two significant waves expected. The first wave currently in effect will last until October 25. The second wave is anticipated to strengthen on October 26, causing temperatures in the northern and northeastern areas to drop to 20-21°C.
Temperature and Rainfall Predictions
- North and northeastern Taiwan: Low of 20-22°C, high of 26°C.
- Other regions: Low of 22-24°C, high ranging from 29-32°C.
- Increased rainfall expected, especially in Yilan and Greater Taipei, with a chance for heavy rain.
As moisture levels rise due to a low-pressure system moving southward, additional rain is likely. Residents should prepare for possible heavy rainfall in specific areas such as Taoyuan and Hualien.
Weather Advisories
Due to strong winds along the coast, the Central Weather Bureau has issued warnings for high winds. The Hengchun Peninsula, Penghu, and Green Island are experiencing average wind speeds above Level 9, with gusts exceeding Level 11. Other areas such as northern Tainan and Yilan may see average wind speeds above Level 6.
Rainfall Outlook
Following the peak of the Northeast Monsoon on October 25, the weather will gradually improve, although the coastal and northeastern regions will still be susceptible to localized heavy rainfall. Short bursts of rain are likely in northern and southeastern areas.
Overall, residents should remain informed about weather updates as conditions evolve. A slight warming trend is expected after October 30, with decreased rainfall following the end of the Northeast Monsoon.
