Bizarre Discovery in Suitcase Murder Case Unfolds
Before his sentencing, Mosquera accepted responsibility for three additional charges related to the possession of indecent photographs of children. He admitted to having approximately 1,500 category A images, 750 category B images, and 4,000 category C images. The disturbing content depicted very young children subjected to horrific abuse.
The Court Proceedings
During the court proceedings at Woolwich Crown Court, Mr. Justice Bennathan highlighted the shocking nature of the material found on Mosquera’s electronic devices. He noted that the images were detailed and disturbing, depicting grave sexual abuse.
Murder Details
- Victims: Albert Alfonso (62) and Paul Longworth (71)
- Date of Murders: July 8, 2024
- Location: Scotts Road, Shepherd’s Bush, London
- Mosquera’s Actions: Repeatedly stabbed Alfonso and smashed Longworth’s skull with a hammer.
- Aftermath: Attempted to dispose of bodies in suitcases at Clifton Suspension Bridge.
Prosecutor Deanna Heer KC described the murders as “calculated” and “premeditated.” Mosquera’s intent to discard the victims’ remains was evident when he was seen with the suitcases, falsely claiming they contained car parts.
Arrest and Charges
After being spotted on the bridge, Mosquera fled the scene when bridge staff noticed a substance leaking from the suitcases. He later confessed to the murder of Alfonso but argued that it was manslaughter due to a loss of control. He maintained his innocence regarding the murder of Longworth, alleging that Alfonso was responsible.
Mosquera has been sentenced to 16 months for the possession of indecent photographs, which will run concurrently with his murder sentence, expected to be announced shortly. This case continues to unfold as authorities investigate the depths of Mosquera’s criminal activities.
