Protesters Condemn Legault’s Authoritarianism, Demand Minister Dubé’s Attention
On Sunday afternoon, a gathering took place outside Radio-Canada’s offices in Montreal. The group was waiting for Quebec’s Health Minister, Christian Dubé, who was scheduled for an interview later that evening.
Protest Against Legault’s Authoritarianism
About thirty individuals, including doctors, citizens, and families, stood on Papineau Avenue to voice their concerns. They aimed to grab attention as Minister Dubé arrived.
Concerns Over Bill 2
The demonstrators expressed their discontent regarding what they perceived as the authoritarian actions of Premier François Legault’s government and Minister Dubé. A protester highlighted the dangers of Bill 2, stating, “This is a truly dangerous precedent.”
Another participant emphasized the importance of preserving democracy in Quebec and Canada, stating, “I value democracy, and that’s why I’m here.”
Health System Critique
Protesters raised serious concerns about the state of the healthcare system. One voice echoed a sentiment shared by many: “The healthcare system is in crisis. It cannot be blamed solely on doctors or nurses.”
Participants were unified in their call for Minister Dubé’s attention to these pressing matters, hoping to initiate a constructive dialogue regarding the ongoing health reforms.
