Metrolinx Expands GO Train Service with New Trips, Adjusted Schedules Monday

Metrolinx is enhancing its GO Train service with new trips and modified schedules beginning Monday. This initiative aims to improve service reliability while alleviating congestion for commuters.

New Trips on Various Lines

Multiple lines will see added services:

  • Lakeshore East Line: Six new rush hour trips will be introduced. One will depart from Durham College Oshawa GO, along with two trips from Whitby GO to Union. Additionally, three afternoon journeys will leave Union heading back towards Whitby.
  • Stouffville Line: Two new rush hour trips are set to commence. One will leave Unionville GO at 7:59 a.m. making all stops to Union. The other will depart from Union at 4:50 p.m., stopping at all stations before reaching Unionville.
  • Barrie Line: This line will add two rush hour trips. One will leave Aurora GO at 7:20 a.m., stopping at all stations en route to Union. The second will depart Union at 4:53 p.m., also making all stops before arriving at Aurora.
  • Richmond Hill Line: Commuters should note that all southbound trips will now depart up to seven minutes earlier than usual.

Confederation GO Station Opening

The Confederation GO station will open on October 27, enhancing transit options in Hamilton and Niagara. All current Lakeshore West trips to Niagara Falls will stop at this new station on both weekdays and weekends.

Increased Weekend Service to Niagara Falls

Starting November 1, weekend service will expand with four trips departing Union Station to Niagara Falls GO, up from the previous three daily trips.

Updated Schedules for Better Travel Times

Metrolinx is also updating schedules on other lines to better align with actual travel durations. Commuters are encouraged to review the updated schedules on the GO Train website before traveling.
