Thomas Ruzzano, an 18-year-old, was at Mizner Park watching a movie with his girlfriend when the storm hit. Thunder and lightning were audible during the film, and by the time they exited, they encountered floodwaters.

As Ruzzano drove home, he noticed several cars trapped in the rising waters. The entire area around Mizner Park was significantly flooded, with reports indicating about 8 inches of rain fell that evening. The conditions created hazardous situations for many drivers, leading Ruzzano to take action.
Taking Initiative to Help Others
Without hesitating, Ruzzano jumped into the water to assist those stranded. In an interview with WPTV, he recounted his experience, stating, “I went from car to car, probably six or seven people, just making sure everyone was okay.” His efforts included helping an elderly man who was stuck inside his vehicle.
