Lorenzo Styles Jr. is set to return for Ohio State’s matchup against Penn State after recovering from an upper-body injury. Although Styles did not play in the previous games against Illinois and Wisconsin, he has been cleared to participate. Head coach Ryan Day expressed optimism about Styles’ return, noting his good practice week.

Ohio State Injury Update

The Buckeyes will face some significant absences despite Styles coming back. Freshman wide receiver Quincy Porter is out, marking him as the most prominent injury for Ohio State. Other players listed as unavailable include:

Performance Insights

Styles has showcased his skills effectively before his injury, allowing only one notable touchdown of 67 yards. According to Pro Football Focus, he has given up just 59 yards over 16 targets, averaging 3.7 yards per target. His season statistics include 17 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and one pass breakup.

In Styles’ absence, Jermaine Mathews Jr. filled the nickel position. Freshman Devin Sanchez started outside and displayed potential despite a few missteps. Sanchez has recorded seven tackles, a pass breakup, and a fumble recovery, though he allowed 9.2 yards per target.

Looking Ahead to the Game

Ohio State will rely on its backup wide receivers more, especially Mylan Graham and Rodgers. Currently, Graham has participated in 83 offensive snaps this season, catching two passes for 33 yards.
