Daylight Saving: Consumer Protection Alerts Restaurants and Bars on Impact
The Department of Consumer Protection has issued an advisory regarding the effects of daylight saving time on bars and restaurants. On Sunday morning, clocks will shift from 2:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m., and establishments cannot extend their hours of operation.

DCP Commissioner Bryan T. Cafferelli emphasized the importance of responsible behavior during this transition. He remarked, “When the clocks fall back this weekend, it’s a sign to be responsible.” He encouraged patrons to consider their safety and opt for alternative transportation like cabs or designated drivers.
State Regulations Regarding Alcohol Sales
According to state liquor regulations, no alcohol sales, consumption, or presence of alcohol is permissible in bars or restaurants when the clock changes. This rule is in place to ensure compliance and promote safety.
