Northern communities gathered for a festive Halloween celebration at the new Ryan Field site. The Truck or Treat event, hosted by Northwestern University alongside the Central Street Consortium, was a delightful success for the second consecutive year.

Truck or Treat Celebrates Halloween

The event featured various activities designed for local families. Children enjoyed face painting, yard games, and a special appearance by Willie the Wildcat. The festivities also included costume competitions, where prizes were awarded for categories such as best construction worker, best Evanston pride, best Northwestern fan, and best baby costume.

On the day of the event, many children arrived in costumes inspired by popular characters. Some were dressed as Care Bears, princesses, and even trash trucks. Real-life construction vehicles like excavators and diggers added to the excitement, making the day all the more memorable.

In total, 22 event partners contributed to this year’s Truck or Treat, providing candy, costumes, and a chance for attendees to see Evanston’s unique purple fire truck up close. This celebration highlights Northwestern’s commitment to fostering community-oriented events.
