The first shooting took place around 10 p.m. on Saturday near Kissing Alley on Hopkins Street. This area is well-known and located across from the historic Hays County Courthouse. Police reported that three individuals were shot and transported to local hospitals, with one later succumbing to their injuries.

Suspects Still At Large

  • Police are seeking two male suspects believed to be involved in the initial shooting.
  • One suspect was described as wearing a black hoodie with white letters, dark pants, and dark shoes.

At 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, Police Chief Stan Standridge directed all downtown bars to close in response to the shootings. Shortly after, at 1:25 a.m., officers responded to a second shooting at The Outpost apartment complex, located about two miles from the first shooting scene. Witnesses reported a confrontation that escalated into gunfire.

Upon arrival, police discovered shell casings and a significant amount of blood near the pool area. One person was injured and transported to a hospital by friends prior to police arrival, but no arrests had been made by Sunday afternoon.

Third Shooting Incident

Later that morning, at approximately 1:50 a.m., police reported a third shooting while officers were leaving the area of the first incident. Several gunshots were fired on North LBJ Drive. Authorities apprehended a 20-year-old suspect named Eliezer Johnson Hernandez during this chase. However, it remains unclear if anyone was injured in this shooting.

Law enforcement officials have stated that the third shooting is unrelated to the prior incidents.
