Burley Idaho Temple Opens for Public, Spreading Savior’s Love and Peace
On November 3, 2025, the Burley Idaho Temple opened its doors for public tours in Idaho’s Magic Valley. This event marks the beginning of a three-day media and special guest tour ahead of the temple’s public open house, which will run from November 6 to November 22, 2025, excluding Sundays. This temple will become the 212th operational temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the seventh in Idaho when it is officially dedicated on January 11, 2026.
Media Day Highlights
Elder Steven R. Bangerter, a General Authority Seventy and executive director of the Temple Department, emphasized the temple’s significance during a press briefing. “The temple is the most holy place on earth,” he stated. He also noted the importance of sharing the temple experience with the public, hoping to convey the peace and love that it represents.
Architectural Features and Artistic Design
The Burley Idaho Temple showcases a design inspired by its agricultural surroundings. Elements reflective of local sugar beet and potato farms are incorporated into the temple’s art-glass patterns and color palette. These features include:
- Art-glass designs reminiscent of potato blossoms and leaves.
 - A color scheme of blue, gold, amber, cream, orange, peach, and green, tied to the natural landscape.

Despite these artistic elements, Elder Bangerter clarified that the temple’s true purpose is spiritual, fostering an atmosphere of familiarity and devotion to God and Jesus Christ.
A Community Blessing
Elder Bangerter expressed gratitude for the local Church members who have long desired a temple in their community. He noted that many have journeyed 45 minutes to the Twin Falls Idaho Temple prior to this temple’s construction. He believes the Burley Idaho Temple will significantly benefit the community, both for Church members and individuals of other faiths.
Experiences from Local Youth
Fifteen-year-old Sophia Silvaz articulated her feelings during the media day, inviting everyone to visit the temple. “When I go to the temple, I just have this feeling of peace,” she said. Sophia plans to attend the temple with friends, broadening the outreach beyond organized church groups.
Public Open House and Community Engagement
Following the media day, the public open house will commence, allowing community members to explore the temple. Elder K. Brett Nattress, assistant executive director in the Temple Department, noted the excitement within the community to invite friends and neighbors from diverse backgrounds to experience the temple.
The Savior at the Center
Throughout his discussions, Elder Nattress highlighted the focus on Jesus Christ within the temple’s operations. He stated that the temple creates a space for joy and happiness as individuals prepare spiritually for the afterlife.
The Burley Idaho Temple serves not just as a place of worship but as a new landmark in Idaho’s Magic Valley. Its opening marks a new chapter for the community, fostering an environment of peace and spiritual growth.
