NC State Coach Who Led Wolfpack to Final Four Joins Broadcasting Team
A former head coach from North Carolina State University is embarking on a new career in broadcasting. Kevin Keatts, who led the NC State Wolfpack to remarkable achievements including an ACC Championship and a Final Four appearance in 2024, will join ESPN as a studio analyst for the 2025-2026 season.
Kevin Keatts’ Transition to Broadcasting
ESPN announced that Keatts will be part of their college basketball coverage this season. His first appearance as a broadcaster is set for Friday, November 7. He will provide analysis during the matchup between Kansas and the University of North Carolina, which will be aired at 7 p.m. EST.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Keatts stated, “I’m excited to join a talented lineup of industry veterans for ESPN’s coverage of college basketball this season. This is a remarkable opportunity. I feel extraordinarily blessed,” in an interview with WECT.
Coaching Legacy at NC State
- Tenure: 2017-2025
- Win Record: 151 wins, ranking fifth in program history
- 2024 ACC Championship: Achieved following a remarkable five-game streak
- Final Four: Advanced as an 11-seed, reaching national semifinals
- Fired after the 2024-2025 season
Before taking charge at NC State, Keatts built a successful record at UNC Wilmington, where he won conference championships in two of his three years. His remarkable coaching journey at NC State is often compared to that of Jim Valvano, who also transitioned to broadcasting.
New Chapter for NC State Basketball
In a recent development, NC State has appointed Will Wade as the new head coach, taking over for Keatts. Wade, formerly with LSU and McNeese State, began his tenure on November 3, achieving a decisive 114-66 victory over North Carolina Central.
Kevin Keatts’ new role in broadcasting marks a significant shift after his impactful tenure at NC State. His insights and experiences are expected to resonate well with college basketball audiences on ESPN and the ACC Network.
