Jérémie Beyou Triumphs in Transat Race After Overcoming Vendée Challenges

Jérémie Beyou has emerged victorious in the prestigious Transat Café L’Or after overcoming significant challenges. The race commenced on October 26 from Le Havre, with Beyou and his co-skipper Morgan Lagravière leading their red and black vessel to an impressive finish.

Race Details

The duo crossed the finish line in Fort-de-France, Martinique, at 5:15 AM local time on November 7, 2025. Their total race time was 11 days, 19 hours, 45 minutes, and 18 seconds. Despite inclement weather and a persistent rainstorm, both sailors showcased visible relief and happiness upon their arrival, greeted by reporters and fans.

Triumphant Reflections

“We worked hard throughout this transat. We gave our all to achieve this result,” Beyou remarked, clearly emotional. He emphasized the importance of staying focused on their race strategy. Their efforts ultimately paid off, providing a satisfying conclusion to the competition.

Race Strategy and Performance

The duo’s boat, Charal, was equipped with new foils and rudders, which facilitated a highly competitive race. Initially leading until the Canary Islands, they faced challenges in a calm patch where the fleet became closely packed.

  • Average speed: 19.17 knots (35 km/h)
  • Total distance: 5,467.42 nautical miles (10,125 km)

As the race continued into the trade winds towards Martinique, Beyou and Lagravière pulled ahead, demonstrating their vessel’s remarkable speed against competitors.

Competition Results

Following Beyou and Lagravière, the second place in the Imoca category went to 11th Hour Racing, crossing at 11:00 AM, and Sam Goodchild’s Macif finished third shortly afterward. Beyou, a three-time winner of the Solitaire du Figaro, had anticipated this victory for an extended period.

Resilience and Team Dynamics

After experiencing a challenging 4th place finish in the Vendée Globe 2024-2025, Beyou faced personal setbacks. He highlighted the importance of teamwork, as Lagravière is renowned for his composed approach, helping to relieve pressure. This partnership marked Lagravière’s third consecutive win in the renowned double-handed transatlantic race, an unprecedented achievement in the Imoca class.
