Paris Metro: Hôtel de Ville and République Stations Closed This Sunday
The Paris Metro will close two key stations, Hôtel de Ville and République, on Sunday, November 9, 2025. This decision comes from the police prefecture in relation to a significant remembrance event.
Event Overview
On this particular day, the closures will last for several hours. The event is named the “13-Unis” run, organized by the French Association of Victims of Terrorism (AfVT) to mark the tenth anniversary of the November 13, 2015 attacks.
Impacted Stations
- Hôtel de Ville: Served by lines 1 and 11.
- République: A major hub for lines 3, 5, 8, 9, and 11.
During the closure, trains will not stop at these stations, and transfers will not be possible.
Details of the 13-Unis Run
The “13-Unis” event features two different runs. The first is a 15-kilometer Freedom Run starting at 9:30 AM from the Stade de France. The second is a 7-kilometer Equality Run beginning at 2 PM from Place de la République.
Both routes will lead participants to the Brotherhood Village set up in front of the Hôtel de Ville.
Artistic Tribute
At various sites affected by the attacks, a vibrant art installation will combine classical music performed by volunteer musicians with collaborative works by artist Olivier Terral. These installations symbolize the transition from grief to rebuilding and serve as a communal tribute to the victims.
Access and User Advisory
The reopening of the closed stations will take place at the police prefecture’s discretion, with specific times yet to be confirmed. Passengers are advised to plan alternative routes within central Paris during this period.
Significance of the Event
This sporting and commemorative event, conceived by the victims, aims to unite society around republican values. It seeks to transform pain into energy for the future, ten years after the tragic events that brought mourning to Paris and all of France.
Access to the Brotherhood Village at the Hôtel de Ville will be free and open to everyone throughout the day.
