Report: Eagles CB Jaire Alexander Takes Leave from Team

Veteran cornerback Jaire Alexander has decided to take a leave from the Philadelphia Eagles. This news was first reported by Dianna Russini of the Athletic. Alexander’s decision comes as he focuses on his physical and mental health while considering retirement.

Jaire Alexander’s NFL Career

At 28 years old, Alexander is currently in his eighth season in the NFL. His career has been plagued by injuries, having played only seven games in each of the last two seasons. His 2024 season was cut short due to a knee injury.

Career Highlights

  • Drafted 18th overall by the Green Bay Packers in 2018
  • Two-time Pro Bowler
  • Total of 80 career games played
  • Statistics: 12 interceptions, 3 forced fumbles, 1.5 sacks, and 12 tackles for loss

Alexander was released by the Packers last summer before signing with the Baltimore Ravens. He made only two appearances for the Ravens while recovering from his knee injury.

Subsequently, he was traded to the Eagles at the NFL’s trade deadline but has not yet played for Philadelphia. As the Eagles prepare for their upcoming game, they hold a record of 7-2.

Upcoming Matchup

The Eagles will face off against the Detroit Lions (6-3), who are also leaders in the NFC division. The team looks to maintain its strong performance despite the recent developments concerning Alexander.
