Ford Launches Certified Used Car Sales on Amazon
Ford Motor Company has announced a new partnership with Amazon, allowing its dealers to list certified used vehicles for sale on the e-commerce platform. This innovative collaboration aims to enhance the car-buying experience for consumers, enabling them to shop for vehicles and arrange financing online.
Details of the Ford and Amazon Partnership
Beginning in Los Angeles, Seattle, and Dallas, customers will be able to browse pre-owned Ford vehicles on Amazon Autos. They can complete most paperwork required for the purchase online. However, they will need to pick up their vehicles in person, as Ford humorously noted, “No Amazon Prime delivery for cars!”
Benefits of Buying Ford Certified Used Cars
- Manufacturer-backed warranty
- Additional benefits similar to dealership purchases
- Convenient online transaction process
As of now, around 180 Ford dealers have shown interest in the program, with 20 already on board. This reflects a strong demand for online vehicle purchasing options.
Amazon Autos and Its Market Reach
Amazon Autos introduced its used vehicle sales platform in August 2023. It functions by enabling participating dealers to list their vehicles while Amazon facilitates the transaction process. Notably, Hyundai Motor Co. has also entered into a similar partnership with Amazon, indicating a growing trend among automakers to embrace online sales trends.
Current Market Landscape
The timing of this partnership coincides with recent shifts in the automotive market. According to Kelley Blue Book, the average price of a new car in September 2023 reached an unprecedented $50,080. However, prices have since stabilized, dropping below $50,000.
This collaboration between Ford and Amazon could significantly change how consumers approach buying vehicles, making the process more accessible and streamlined.
