Gemini 3 Pro Launches on Android, iPhone App Undergoes Redesign

The highly anticipated launch of Gemini 3 Pro is now underway on both Android and iOS platforms. Following a recent announcement, Google unveiled its latest AI model on gemini.google.com.

Key Features of Gemini 3 Pro

Gemini 3 Pro offers distinct modes for users. On the web, the model selector allows users to choose between:

  • Fast: Provides quick answers.
  • Thinking: Engages in deeper reasoning for complex topics.

This dual-naming strategy extends to the AI Mode as well. Users can select from:

  • Default: Delivers all-around assistance.
  • Thinking: Utilizes the advanced reasoning capabilities of 3 Pro.

Availability and User Access

The rollout commenced for AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in the United States. Users on both Android and iOS will notice the Gemini prompt box has been slightly adjusted. It now features options for “3 Pro” and “2.5 Flash,” while additional modes are available at the bottom of the screen.

This server-side update requires users to force stop the Gemini app to access the new features. Reports indicate that the changes are visible across stable and beta channels of the Google app.

Introduction of New Features

In addition to Gemini 3 Pro, Google has introduced the Gemini Agent for AI Ultra subscribers. The Tools menu now includes an “Agent” feature labeled as “Labs.”

New suggestion chips have also been added, allowing users to:

  • Stay organized.
  • Get briefed on topics.
  • Delegate tasks.

Mobile Redesign for iPhone Users

In conjunction with the update, Google has implemented a significant mobile redesign for iPhone users. A new homepage layout has been established, organizing suggestion chips vertically. The updated interface includes a dark theme featuring a black background while retaining a two-tone prompt box.

Similarly, the light mode offers a subtle gray and blue hue for a modern aesthetic.

Navigation Enhancements

The redesigned navigation drawer introduces a “My Stuff” folder. This makes it easier for users to access their images, videos, reports, and other generative content. The interface conveniently displays the three most recent works, and tapping them leads to a fullscreen view.

With the rollout of Gemini 3 Pro and the accompanying redesign, Google continues to enhance user experience across its platforms.
