Morgan Geyser Escapes, Severing Monitoring Bracelet in Slender Man Case
Authorities in Madison, Wisconsin, have launched a search for Morgan Geyser after she severed her monitoring bracelet. This incident occurred on the night of November 22, shortly after she left a group home. Geyser was last spotted in the vicinity of Kroncke Drive at approximately 8 p.m. with an adult companion.
The Madison Police Department received notice of Geyser’s disappearance on the following morning. They quickly distributed an alert to the community. If anyone has information regarding Geyser’s whereabouts, they are urged to call 911.
Background of Morgan Geyser’s Case
In 2014, Morgan Geyser, alongside Anissa Weier, was involved in a shocking crime where they stabbed their classmate to appease the fictional character Slender Man. At the age of 12, both girls pleaded guilty, claiming they were not entirely responsible due to mental illness.
After the incident, Geyser and Weier were committed to state mental health facilities. While Weier was released in 2021 and placed under GPS monitoring, Geyser faced numerous challenges regarding her own release.
- In April 2023, Geyser was granted conditional release.
- The victim’s family raised objections about Geyser’s placement in a group home located about eight miles away.
- In July, a judge approved a plan for her placement in a group home in Sun Prairie.
Concerns Over Placement
Geyser’s attorney, Anthony Cotton, expressed optimism about her new environment. He stated that the new facility offered greater opportunities for personal growth compared to her previous placements.
However, complications arose when Sun Prairie’s city attorney filed an objection. A few days later, Geyser’s attorney announced that the facility decided against her placement due to media coverage of her case.
As the search continues, authorities are focusing on securing her safety and reintegration into the community.
