Alert: Heavy Rain Persists in South; Northern Temperatures Fall 2–4°C
The southern region of Thailand is facing significant rainfall, with predictions indicating up to 70% precipitation. This situation brings a heightened risk of flash floods and rising water levels.
Weather Conditions in the North and Northeast
In contrast, the northern and northeastern areas are experiencing a drop in temperatures. The Meteorological Department has reported a decrease of 2–4°C, with mountain peaks potentially reaching lows of 5°C.
Heavy Rain Alert
An official warning has been issued by the Meteorological Department under Alert No. 22 (361/2025). This alert forecasts heavy to very heavy rainfall in the southern part of the country, particularly affecting:
- Songkhla
- Yala
- Pattani
- Narathiwat
- Nakhon Si Thammarat
- Phatthalung
- Trang
- Satun
- Surat Thani
The heavy rains stem from a low-pressure system in the southern region, which is also generating strong winds over the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea. These conditions are expected to persist until November 25, 2025.
Precautions and Warnings for Residents
With the anticipated heavy rainfall, residents in southern communities are advised to remain alert for flash floods, overflow of rivers, and general flooding, particularly in foothill regions and low-lying areas close to water bodies.
Waves in the Gulf of Thailand are anticipated to reach heights of 2–3 meters. In conditions with thunderstorms, waves could exceed 3 meters. Residents along the eastern coast should take caution against potential wave impacts.
Furthermore, small boats in the Gulf of Thailand are advised to remain ashore for safety. Mariners navigating the Gulf and Andaman Sea should exercise caution, steering clear of storm-affected areas.
