Gaumont’s ‘The Hunt’ Series Pulled from Apple TV Amid Plagiarism Probe
Apple TV has announced the removal of the anticipated French thriller, “The Hunt” (“Traqués”), from its December release schedule. This decision follows serious allegations of plagiarism involving the series’ plot.
Plagiarism Investigation Details
The show, created and directed by Cédric Anger, faces accusations of borrowing its narrative from Douglas Fairbairn’s 1973 novel “Shoot.” The novel was previously adapted into a film in 1976. The news of the plagiarism allegations was first reported by French media expert Clément Garin.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Gaumont, the production company behind “The Hunt,” confirmed that the series has been shelved during an investigation into these claims. They emphasized their commitment to addressing intellectual property issues seriously.
Broadcast Schedule Affected
“The Hunt” was initially scheduled to premiere on Apple TV on December 3, with the first two episodes available at launch. Following that, subsequent episodes were set to release weekly every Wednesday until December 31. However, all promotional materials for the series have now been removed from the Apple TV platform.
