Suspected Arson in Lima: One Dead, Two Injured Friday Night

The Lima Police and Fire Departments are investigating a suspected arson fire that occurred on Friday night, resulting in one fatality and two injuries. The incident took place at 410 Ewing Avenue, where emergency services responded to reports of a house engulfed in flames around 8:30 p.m.

Details of the Incident

Firefighters arrived to find the residence fully ablaze. Despite their efforts, they could not enter the building due to the fire’s severity. Tragically, one individual remained inside and did not survive the blaze.

Survivors and Injuries

  • Three occupants escaped the fire.
  • Two survivors were transported to Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center for medical treatment.

Authorities have indicated that one of the survivors reported that an accelerant was allegedly used to ignite the fire, suggesting an intent to trap the occupants inside. Out of respect for the victims and survivors, authorities have opted not to release any names or personal information at this stage.

Investigation Ongoing

The deceased individual’s body has been sent for autopsy, and Lima Fire Arson Investigators are collaborating with police detectives on the case. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
