Stanford Appoints Former QB Pritchard as New Head Coach

Stanford University has appointed former quarterback Tavita Pritchard as its new head coach, a decision announced on Friday. Pritchard, who has previously served as both an assistant coach and coordinator at Stanford, has had a diverse coaching career, recently working with the Washington Commanders as their quarterbacks coach in 2023. Following a scheduled game against the Denver Broncos, Pritchard will transition back to Stanford.

The hiring process for Pritchard involved over 30 candidates and was led by general manager Andrew Luck. The selection committee included key figures like athletic director John Donahoe, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and Stanford’s president Jonathan Levin. Additionally, he played a key role in recruiting top talent such as Mills and McKee.
