Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Hosts Thanksgiving Dinner for 1,000 Prison Inmates
Sean “Diddy” Combs has organized a remarkable Thanksgiving dinner for approximately 1,000 inmates at FCI Fort Dix, New Jersey. Currently serving a 50-month sentence, Combs aimed to ensure that these inmates had a meal during the holiday.
Thanksgiving Dinner Initiative
Working with an inmate group known as the Bankroll Bosses, Combs facilitated the purchase of food from the prison commissary. Over two days, volunteers prepared and distributed meals to every housing unit within the facility.
Goals and Objectives
- Provide a nourishing meal during Thanksgiving.
- Offer support to inmates who miss their families during the holidays.
- Create a sense of community within the prison.
Combs emphasized the importance of sharing meals, stating, “Thanksgiving, to me, is about making sure other people eat.” He acknowledged the emotional challenges inmates face during the holiday season.
Food Preparation
Due to limited kitchen equipment, inmates relied on improvised tools for food preparation. This included using ID cards as cutting instruments. Despite these challenges, they effectively prepared enough food to serve around 200 inmates per building.
Community and Support
While the prison provided a standard Thanksgiving meal, Combs and the Bankroll Bosses enhanced it with additional items purchased from the commissary. Combs described life at FCI Fort Dix as one filled with camaraderie.
He noted, “There is a strong brotherhood. We all look out for each other,” portraying the Thanksgiving dinner as “a little bit of home in a dark place.”
