Activists Urge Travelers to Boycott Avelo Airlines in BNA Protest
In Nashville, activists have initiated a call for travelers to boycott Avelo Airlines as part of a national protest. This demonstration was held at the Nashville International Airport (BNA) on one of the busiest travel days of the year. The protest aimed to raise awareness about Avelo Airlines’ alleged ties to deportation flights facilitated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Organized by the Nashville Boycott Avelo Movement and the Stop Avelo Coalition, the event featured participants holding signs and chanting slogans. Mike Lacy, one of the main organizers, indicated that over 20 cities across the United States participated in the protests against Avelo Airlines.

Lacy claimed that Avelo has a contract with ICE to assist in operating deportation flights. He emphasized the need for travelers to reconsider their support for the airline, stating, “We’re not asking you to give money. We’re asking you to not give money.”

In response to the allegations, Avelo’s communications manager, Courtney Goff, denied any connection to ICE or the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). She reiterated that Avelo does not hold a contract with either agency. Goff stated, “We have no idea how this false statement keeps getting publicized without any fact-checking.”
Goff acknowledged the right of individuals to peacefully assemble and reiterated Avelo’s commitment to providing safe and timely services to over 8.3 million customers nationwide. She noted that while Avelo may operate charters for various government branches, it does not have specific contracts with DHS or ICE.
