Police Report: Teen Robbed in Prince William County During Clothes Sale

In Prince William County, a teenager has become the victim of an armed robbery during a clothes sale. The incident underlines the risks associated with online transactions, especially among young individuals.

Details of the Incident

On Tuesday, just before 3:30 p.m., a 16-year-old boy arranged to sell clothes through Instagram. He met a group of individuals on Skystone Loop, close to Signal Hill Park, to finalize the deal. Unfortunately, the meeting escalated when one of the suspects brandished a firearm.

Another suspect then seized the clothing items from the victim. They promptly fled the scene in a vehicle. Fortunately, the teenager did not sustain any injuries during the encounter. Authorities have identified three suspects: two males and one female, all in their mid to late teens.

Police Advice on Safe Transactions

Lt. Johnathan Perok of the Prince William County Police Department issued a warning regarding such transactions. He advises parents to discourage juveniles from meeting strangers online. Having an adult present during these exchanges can enhance safety.

  • Conduct transactions in public, well-lit areas.
  • Consider meeting at the police department where designated parking is available for exchanges.
  • If uncomfortable outside, utilize the lobby of the police station.

These measures can help ensure safety during online selling or buying experiences.

Investigation Ongoing

The police are actively investigating the incident and have potential leads on the suspects involved. Anyone with additional information regarding this armed robbery is encouraged to contact law enforcement.
