Unlock ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN DLC: A Step-by-Step Guide

The upcoming DLC titled “The Forsaken Hollows” is set to launch on December 4, 2025. This expansion for ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN introduces significant new content, including two Nightfarers, two bosses, and a new Shifting Earth event.

Unlocking the New Features

Players interested in accessing the new Nightfarers, Scholar and Undertaker, must first defeat the boss “Tricephalos.” After completing this task, visit the Roundtable Hold and speak with the Iron Menial to receive a message from the Small Jar Merchant.

Unlocking New Bosses

To challenge the Balancers, players must fulfill certain criteria:

• Defeat at least two bosses from the main game ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN, including Tricephalos.
• Make both Nightfarers, Scholar and Undertaker, playable.

Once these conditions are met, head to the chapel located behind the Small Jar Merchant to take on the new challenges presented in the DLC.

Shifting Earth Event

After unlocking the Balancers, players can engage in the cataclysmic Shifting Earth event known as ‘The Great Hollows.’ A post-release update will ensure that new events, including raid content and bases, will become available in the Deep of Night, even during base game expeditions.

Note that for these new DLC features to be accessible in the Deep of Night, players must team up with three others who also have the DLC.

How to Activate the DLC

On PlayStation 5 & PlayStation 4

If you purchased the DLC via a Deluxe Edition, Collector’s Edition, Seeker’s Edition, or as a pre-order, a manual download is necessary. To find the DLC, search for “nightreign” in the PlayStation Store, select “ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN The Forsaken Hollows PS4 & PS5,” and download it.

On Xbox Series X|S & Xbox One

Similar to PlayStation, those who pre-ordered or purchased through a Deluxe Edition need to manually download the DLC. Locate the DLC option under the main ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN icon after its release. Alternatively, you can access it through My Games & Apps, navigate to the game icon, click “Manage Games & Add-ons,” and select the desired addon.

On Steam

DLC downloads will automatically start at 8:00 AM JST/0:00 UTC on December 4, 2025. Ensure to download Update File 1.03, which will be available on December 3, 2025, in order to access the new content.
