UM Clears Washington-Grizzly Stadium Snow for Playoff Game Preparation

On Friday, volunteers and staff from the University of Montana worked diligently to clear snow from Washington-Grizzly Stadium in preparation for an upcoming playoff game. The stadium, which accommodates approximately 26,000 spectators, required significant snow removal efforts, particularly for its seating, parking areas, and walkways.

Preparation for Playoff Game

As the Montana Grizzlies are set to face the South Dakota State Jackrabbits at noon on Saturday, ensuring a safe environment for fans has been a priority. Dave Kuntz, Director of Strategic Communications at UM, highlighted the importance of clearing pathways and stairways. “Stairs and corridors will be prioritized to ensure safety for attendees,” Kuntz stated.

Continued Readiness

The preparations included an early start for staff, who were set to arrive by 4 a.m. to begin snow removal. The strategy involved first focusing on clearing parking lots before addressing the stadium itself. The aim was to have any additional snowfall cleared from the field by 9:30 a.m.

Game Day Expectations

In the event of further snowfall, UM has made provisions to maintain visibility for players and officials. Heavy equipment, including field plows, will be utilized to remove snow and ensure that game lines remain visible.
