Toronto Braces for Consecutive Storms: Expected Snowfall Amounts Revealed

Toronto is preparing for a significant weather event as consecutive storms are set to impact the region. A mix of rain and snow is expected, along with temperature fluctuations throughout the week.

Expected Snowfall Amounts in Toronto

The Greater Toronto Area (GTA) could see snow accumulations of up to eight centimetres by Wednesday morning. According to CTV News Toronto Weather Anchor, Lyndsay Morrison, two Alberta Clipper weather systems are anticipated to affect the city in quick succession.

Timeline of Weather Systems

  • First Weather System: Arriving around noon on Tuesday, this system is expected to bring approximately three centimetres of snow to Toronto.
  • Additional Accumulation: Other areas in the GTA may receive between two and five centimetres of snow.
  • Duration: Snowfall from the first system is expected to diminish by 8 p.m. Tuesday, giving way to light flurries.
  • Second Weather System: This system will arrive overnight, bringing an additional three centimetres of snow to Toronto.

Regional Snow Forecasts

Snowfall amounts are projected to vary across Ontario. Higher totals are expected due to lake enhancement caused by gusty winds:

  • Kitchener: Up to 14 centimetres
  • London: Up to 16 centimetres
  • Orillia and Caledon: A combined total of 12 centimetres

Rain and Temperature Changes

As temperatures rise, some areas may experience rain instead of snow by Wednesday afternoon. Morrison noted that this shift could lead to slushy conditions. The temperature is forecast to reach about 2°C, with wind chill making it feel as cold as -11°C at times.

Residents are advised to stay informed of weather updates as conditions may change rapidly. Prepare for potentially challenging travel conditions due to the storm’s impact across the region.
