Cowboys Place CB Diggs on IR Against Vikings
The Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs will not return for the upcoming game against the Minnesota Vikings. The team has officially placed him on injured reserve, marking an extended absence from the field.
Cowboys’ Decision on Trevon Diggs
As of December 13, 2025, the Cowboys have not activated Diggs from injured reserve. He remains sidelined for at least one more week. The deadline for his activation is December 20. If he is not added to the 53-man roster by then, he will stay on injured reserve for the remainder of the season.
Injury History
Trevon Diggs has faced significant injury challenges this season. He has not played since October 12, when the Cowboys faced the Carolina Panthers and lost 30-27. After an at-home accident, he suffered a concussion and was placed on injured reserve on October 25 to allow proper recovery of his right knee.
- Diggs has undergone two knee surgeries:
- First surgery in 2023 for an ACL tear.
- Second surgery in January for a chondral tissue graft.
Recent Progress and Team Insights
Despite participating in three practices leading up to the Vikings game, he was a limited participant. Coach Brian Schottenheimer emphasized the importance of consistency for Diggs’ return. He stated that the team must prioritize the health of both Diggs and the team overall.
“He’s still in the ramp-up period,” Schottenheimer noted. “It’s crucial for him to prepare physically and mentally, especially with some new faces in the huddle.”
2023 Season Performance
In the six games he played this season, Diggs tallied:
- 20 tackles
- One tackle for loss
- Two quarterback pressures
However, he has not recorded any interceptions or pass deflections this year. Diggs was named to the Pro Bowl in 2021 and 2022, achieving a remarkable 14 interceptions across those seasons, 11 of which came in 2021 alone.
In 2023, the Cowboys extended his contract for five years at a value of $97 million, but he has participated in just 19 games since then.
