Magic’s Bane Fined for Hurling Ball at Anunoby
The NBA has fined Orlando Magic guard Desmond Bane $35,000 for an unsportsmanlike act during a recent game against the New York Knicks. This incident occurred on December 7, 2025, in the fourth quarter of the match, where the Knicks emerged victorious with a score of 106-100.
Incident Details
The foul took place with 6:13 left in the game. OG Anunoby, playing for the Knicks, was on a breakaway when Bane, among others, attempted to defend. As Anunoby fell out of bounds, Bane collected the basketball and hurled it at him.
Previous Incident
This is not the first time Bane has been in the spotlight for similar behavior this season. Earlier, during a game on November 4 against the Atlanta Hawks, he was ejected for a flagrant foul on Onyeka Okongwu. Bane grabbed Okongwu’s forearm, leading to a hard fall. Following this, he threw the ball down onto Okongwu as he lay on the court.
Consequences of Unsportsmanlike Conduct
- Desmond Bane fined $35,000.
- Technical foul assessed in both incidents.
- Second incident of unsportsmanlike behavior this season.
The NBA’s decision emphasizes the importance of maintaining sportsmanship on the court. Players are expected to uphold the integrity of the game, and actions like Bane’s will be met with penalties to discourage such conduct.
