Stanton Weber is returning to Kansas State University (K-State) as the new special teams coordinator under head coach Collin Klein. His appointment follows a successful stint at the University of Toledo, where he developed valuable relationships and achieved significant coaching milestones.

Weber’s Journey to K-State

A native of Overland Park, Kansas, Weber first joined K-State in 2011 and concluded his playing career as a team captain in 2015. As a wide receiver and special teams player, he earned accolades including three First Team Academic All-Big 12 selections.

Prior to rejoining K-State, Weber spent three seasons at Toledo. His efforts there garnered him recognition as a finalist for the 2024 Special Teams Coordinator of the Year by FootballScoop. He also participated in the AFCA 35 Under 35 Leadership Institute.

  • Punt returner and kicker also received accolades

Under his direction, Toledo ranked impressively during the 2025 season:

  • 4th in FBS for blocked punts (3)
  • 20th in punt-return defense (4.22)
  • 31st in punt returns (11.48)

His brother Landry was a wide receiver from 2017-2021, while his sister McKenzi played volleyball from 2016-2019.

Stanton Weber holds three degrees from K-State, including a bachelor’s and master’s in accounting, along with an MBA. He married his wife Natalie in July 2022, adding to the family legacy at the university.

An Unexpected Opportunity

Weber learned about the potential for his return to K-State during a practice at Toledo. A surprising text from Klein, featuring a purple devil emoji, hinted at the decision. “I knew I better get my bags packed,” Weber said, reflecting on his initial reaction.

Weber expressed a deep sense of responsibility and excitement about returning home to K-State and fostering connections with his players. He described the honor of being back in Manhattan, emphasizing the importance of building relationships and inspiring his team.

Looking Ahead

As Weber prepares for his new role, he aims to meet with each player individually. He plans to share his own story and listen to theirs, fostering an environment of trust and teamwork.

Weber acknowledges the challenge of maintaining relationships with his previous team at Toledo, but he is eager to create new bonds at K-State. “It’s about pouring everything I can into the players,” he stated, highlighting his commitment to developing both their skills and their connection to the university.

Goals Under Klein’s Leadership

Working alongside Collin Klein, Weber feels optimistic about K-State’s potential. He believes the special teams can become a vital asset for the team, providing a competitive edge.

With a deep understanding of K-State’s culture and values, Weber intends to build on the foundation laid by past teams. He envisions a bright future for K-State special teams, seeing it as a pivotal part of the program’s identity.
