NIU Football’s 2026 Mountain West Opponents Revealed
The Mountain West Conference has announced Northern Illinois University (NIU) football’s opponents for the 2026 season. This marks NIU’s inaugural participation in the Mountain West.
2026 Mountain West Opponents for NIU Football
NIU is set to welcome four teams to Huskie Stadium: Hawai’i, Nevada, UTEP, and Wyoming. This will be a historic year as it will be the first time Hawai’i competes against NIU. The Huskies have faced Nevada and Wyoming twice in past seasons and previously played UTEP once.
The Huskies will also travel for games against Air Force, New Mexico, San José State, and UNLV. Notably, the NIU football team has the most experience with UNLV, having played the Rebels five times. Their matchups with San José State occurred once, while the games against Air Force and New Mexico will be first-time encounters for NIU.
