Girl’s Nightmarish Ordeal: Gang Repeatedly Assaults Her in Hotel

In a disturbing case of sexual exploitation, four men have been convicted of multiple offenses against a vulnerable 16-year-old girl in Birmingham. The incidents occurred in July 2019 after the young girl was lured into a vehicle on Alum Rock Road.

Convicted Individuals and Offenses

  • Arqash Zaffar: 41 years old, from Walsall, convicted of five counts of rape, four counts of causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent, and one count of arranging travel for exploitation.
  • Mohammed Nadim: 44 years old, also from Walsall, found guilty of one count of sexual assault.
  • Shahban Arif: 42 years old, convicted of a single exploitation offense.
  • Shiraz Nassar: 40 years old, from Manchester, found guilty of one charge of rape.

Timeline of Events

The victim, a runaway known to social services, had gone missing between July 11 and August 12, 2019. On July 20, she was picked up by Zaffar and Nadim, leading to a series of traumatic events.

During her ordeal, she was transported to various locations, including hotel rooms, where multiple men participated in the abuse. The girl described instances of being raped and sexually assaulted, particularly in a hotel in Walsall and later at Nassar’s flat in Manchester.

Trial and Evidence

After a five-week trial at Birmingham Crown Court, the jury found all defendants guilty of their respective charges. Prosecutor Tim Clarke KC emphasized the victim’s vulnerability and previous interactions with social services, noting her distress when she returned home.

The prosecution revealed that the victim identified two of the defendants by their nicknames and provided detailed accounts of the assaults. Her testimony included descriptions of how she was coerced and manipulated throughout the ordeal.

Sentencing and Court Proceedings

The court proceedings were highly intricate, with various testimonies and pieces of evidence presented. Notably, one defendant arranged hotel accommodations using a false name, further highlighting the premeditated nature of the offenses.

The sentencing for the four men has been scheduled for March 19 next year, allowing time for all parties to prepare for the outcomes of this harrowing case.
