Tatiana Schlossberg, JFK’s Granddaughter, Passes Away at 35
Tatiana Schlossberg, the granddaughter of former U.S. President John F. Kennedy, has tragically passed away at the age of 35. The news of her death was announced by her family via a heartfelt message shared by the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation, stating, “Our beautiful Tatiana passed away this morning. She will always be in our hearts.”
Health Struggles and Diagnosis
In November, Schlossberg, who was known for her work as a climate journalist, revealed her diagnosis of an aggressive form of cancer. She expressed in an essay that she had been given less than a year to live. After the birth of her second child, Schlossberg disclosed that she had been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in May 2024.
Personal Reflections
In an article published in The New Yorker titled “A Battle With My Blood,” Schlossberg shared her emotional journey. She voiced her concerns about being forgotten by her children, stating, “My first thought was that my kids, whose faces live permanently on the inside of my eyelids, wouldn’t remember me.”
Treatment and Prognosis
Tatiana described the extensive treatments she underwent, including chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. Despite these efforts, she received an unfavorable prognosis from her medical team.
Impact on Family
Schlossberg was acutely aware of the emotional toll her illness would take on her family. Her family history is filled with personal tragedies, including the assassination of her grandfather, President John F. Kennedy, in 1963, and the death of her uncle, John F. Kennedy Jr., in 1999.
She reflected on her desire to be a good daughter and sister, admitting her deep concern for her mother. She wrote, “Now I have added a new tragedy to her life, to our family’s life, and there’s nothing I can do to stop it.”
